The Position


Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.


Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This Administrative Assistant 3 position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services located in Carson City, NV. Under general supervision, this incumbent is responsible providing general support for the Planning, Advocacy, and Community Services (PAC) unit; coordinating and supporting ADSD Boards and Commissions; providing general office support; scheduling meetings on behalf of managers within PAC; developing agendas, meeting minutes, posting of public meeting notices; travel coordination; composing reports, operating procedures and other correspondence within the unit; and providing staff support.
The position requires intermediate to advanced experience and proficiency in MS Office, including strong Outlook calendar, email, Excel and Word skills, and must function well in a group and team environment. The incumbent must demonstrate professionalism, drive, and time management abilities; work well on collaborative complex projects; and have experience with Nevada Open Meeting Law.

To Qualify:


In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:



Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)



Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position has a 25% Travel Requirement.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.


Additional Position Experience



Experience with boards, commissions, and/or councils which required abiding by open meeting laws is required.
